Art requires philosophy, just as philosophy requires art. Otherwise, what would become of beauty? ~Paul Gauguin
White Flower and Friendly Bee Mixed Media Painting
What is beauty if it is in the eye of the beholder? In my opinion, beauty is what we like to see. Or is it something that goes beyond what we can see. Do we feel it when we observe from our own perspective. What an image means to us is based on our experiences with the subject and our overall interpretation.
Bees are beautiful to me and their relationships with flowers are fascinating indeed. Part lover and an equal part food. I see them partake of the pollen and I see an interesting blend of pleasure and function. Bees drink of flowers and spread pollen indiscriminately. They are drawn to the scent and stay for the meal. Is this living artwork or a functional task?
